Anti-CAIR Press Release 003/03

Anti-CAIR (ACAIR) Questions Duplicity of the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR)

According to press reports, Muslims at the Pentagon are upset at the invitation of Rev. Franklin Graham to preach at the
Defense Department on the occasion of Good Friday.  In particular, Muslims are upset by statements Rev. Graham has made
referring to Islam as an "evil religion."

A spokesman for CAIR, Mr. Ibrahim Hooper, stated that in regard to the invitation that it "Sends entirely the wrong message to the Muslim and Arab world that the Pentagon will host someone who has such Islamophobic views."  He added: "This kind of incident can undo any kind of bridges built by a hundred public affairs officers at the Pentagon.  They need to think how their actions are perceived not only in this country but worldwide."

While ACAIR supports the rights of members of the Islamic faith to oppose the appearance of Rev. Graham, we do not understand the involvement of CAIR in the dispute. We believe CAIR is an Islamic fundamentalist organization dedicated to the overthrow of the United States Constitution and the installation of an Islamic theocracy in America.  CAIR is not qualifed to speak on behalf of mainstream Muslims in America.  The statement of Mr. Omar Ahmad, CAIR Chairman, made in 1998: "Islam isn't in America to be equal to any other faith, but to become dominant.  The Koran...should be the highest authority in America, and Islam the only accepted religion on earth" is particularly revealing of the hidden agenda of CAIR.

Additionally, CAIR has opposed the plans of Rev. Graham to provide humanitarian assistance to Iraq.  Mr. Hooper stated: "I believe
his group is one of a number of evangelical missionary groups that use the cover of humanitarian relief to prosper in coercive ways."
The hypocrisy of CAIR is evident by their silence to the fact that in many Islamic countries, preaching a faith other than Islam can
bring the death penalty.

Anti-CAIR strongly condemns the radical Islamic bigotry of CAIR and calls on the followers of all faiths to condemn the activites
of CAIR and their promotion of un-Constitutional activities.
