CAIR “Deeply Troubled” by NY Missile Plot
On
August 5, 2004, the Council on American-Islamic Relation (CAIR) issued
a news release
concerning the alleged NY “Missile Plot”. In their news release, CAIR makes their usual,
patented statements regarding association between Islam and terror:
“A prominent national Islamic civil rights
and advocacy group today said an alleged plot by two men associated
with an Albany, N.Y. mosque to
help purchase a shoulder-fired
missile from an FBI informant is a "deeply troubling" development that
should not be used to associate all American Muslims with violence.”
“Deeply troubling?”
“Should
not be used to associate all American Muslims with violence?”
The very simple fact
is that there is a direct
tie between Islam and terrorism and nothing CAIR says will change this. The 9-11 commission has finally brought this
fact forward and this also points out another glaring fact: CAIR has
done absolutely nothing to bring Muslim Americans into
the national community. Why?
In over ten years of existence, not one single constructive
recommendation has been brought forth by CAIR to actually do something
realistic to help American Muslims and the rest of
CAIR pursues policies that
seem to be deliberately calculated to divide Muslim Americans and the
rest of
Why?
For
a group that allegedly promotes the positive face of Islam, CAIR never
misses an opportunity to divide
American Muslims from the rest of America.
CAIR, Failing to Tell the
Truth, Again!
On August 5, 2004, the
Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) issued a news release
concerning a “NY
Missile Plot”. In their release,
CAIR referenced a truck-bomb
plot foiled by the FBI that didn’t involve
Muslim terrorists as an
"example" of not associating Islam with terrorism.
From CAIR’s news release:
”CAIR's statement noted that Federal agents today
arrested a Chicago man for
allegedly plotting to blow up a
federal courthouse with a fertilizer truck bomb. The Associated Press
reports that Gale William Nettles, 66, was arrested with a pickup truck
containing 1,500 pounds of fertilizer he allegedly thought was ammonium
nitrate, the
same substance used to blow up the Oklahoma City federal building in 1995. Prosecutors say
Nettles apparently had a grudge against the court system and did not
belong to any political group.”
"Allegations of terrorist activity should
be treated equally, whatever the faith or ethnicity of the alleged
perpetrators."
Sounds
reasonable, doesn’t it?
The majority of
Americans are fair-minded and we don’t particularly care for the notion
of “guilt by association” unless there is overwhelming proof. However, CAIR only told half the story in
their news release and didn’t bother to tell us the “rest
of the story.”
Why?
The
part that CAIR chose to leave out:
“He was arrested Thursday morning after
selling 1,500 pounds of fertilizer to another undercover agent, who was
posing as a member of a Middle Eastern terrorist organization Nettles
hoped would join the plot, Fitzgerald said.”
Would anyone care to guess
which religious group the undercover agent professed to be an adherent
of?
Our guess?...it
wasn’t a Catholic, Jew or Hindu…
The fact is that all of Islam has a problem with Islamist terrorism and
CAIR is doing absolutely nothing
to help the situation.
We have not seen one single, concrete suggestion put forward by
CAIR that would even begin to address the problem of militant Islam. When has CAIR ever condemned an Islamist by
name? Has CAIR ever damned any Islamic
terrorist group? Have we ever known CAIR
to make an honest effort to get American Muslims to assist law
enforcement? No, we get CAIR crying to the
ACLU about Muslims being questioned by the FBI !
Instead of CAIR saying to their
fellow American Muslims, “Do the
right thing, tell law enforcement
about any concerns you have about militant Islamists terror-murdering
in the name of Allah”, we get:
Contacted
by the FBI? Call your local ACLU office
and get a phalanx of attorney’s to go with you!
Don’t forget to cry on camera while having your
wife/children/boss/neighbor saying what a peaceful fellow you are!
Immediately
condemn the
Don’t forget to mention that the agents didn’t offer you coffee
and doughnuts!
Also, don’t forget to say that the agents didn’t smile when they
talked to you and that they glared menacingly during the interview!
Dr. Daniel Pipes has said
that CAIR is “on the wrong side in the war on
terrorism.” We believe CAIR is not only on
the wrong side in the war on terror, CAIR is not supportive of the war
on terror and only pays lip service to
the notion of protecting Muslim civil rights while pursuing its true
agenda of making Islam the dominant religion in the U.S.
Americans are waking up to
the grave threat posed by militant Islam and we don’t particularly care
for those who support militant Islamists. Any
organization that actively works to oppose the reasonable efforts of
law enforcement to protect all Americans is un-American.
American Muslims will be better
served by ignoring the advice of CAIR and remembering why they came to
Stick with CAIR…and you will.
American Muslims need to
stand up and throw off the shackles of hate and bigotry espoused by
CAIR. Let your fellow Americans, of all
faiths and creeds, know how much you enjoy being a part of the American
family; that you strongly repudiate CAIR’s
message of hate for America and our traditions; that you believe in
supporting law enforcement; that you don’t hate America.
The time has come to relegate CAIR to the dustbin of
history…where it rightfully belongs, along with Communism, Fascism, and
all the other odious anti-freedom movements of history.
CAIR and the American
Civil Liberties
On August 6, 2004, the Council on
American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) issued a news release to
announce that the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) will provide
free legal advice to Muslims questioned by the FBI.
This
is the first paragraph of CAIR’s news
release:
“A prominent national
Islamic civil rights and advocacy group today announced that it is
teaming up with the American Civil Liberties
Notice
that the lead paragraph acknowledges in the last sentence that the
interviews are “voluntary”.
This raises several
questions:
- Why doesn’t CAIR promote the idea that the
FBI is defending
Engy Abdelkader,
CAIR Civil Rights Director,
"CAIR's partnership with the ACLU will help
Muslims who are unaware of their legal rights or who just have concerns
about being approached by the FBI."
Is
there any evidence that the FBI has abused these interviews to take
unfair advantage of any Muslim? If so,
where is it? CAIR’s
animosity towards the FBI is well known, why do they insist on
poisoning the Muslim community’s attitude toward the FBI?
Is CAIR upset that the FBI has been one of the lead agencies
responsible for jailing so many CAIR officers?
- Why is the
ACLU involved with CAIR? Dalia
Hashad, ACLU Arab, Muslim and
South Asian advocate:
"This dragnet technique used by the FBI is
simply racial profiling and violates our most cherished fundamental
freedoms."
“Dragnet
technique”?
Is Hashad
of the opinion that the FBI has enough agents that they can sweep into
any town or city in the
In opposition to questioning
American Muslims, the ACLU issued this ridiculous statement:
“...the FBI questioned more than 8,000
Muslim and Arab men in 2001 and 2002, but that questioning did not
yield a single arrest of a suspected terrorist.”
Really? Does the ACLU now run the FBI?
It seems that the ACLU has now adopted CAIR’s
editorial line: Throw out a lie and see if
anyone is stupid enough to fall for it. Americans
are waking up and the lessons of 9-11 are finally beginning to
sink in…Americans will not simply walk to their graves dug by the likes
of CAIR and the ACLU.
We are at war and we simply do not have time for this silliness.
