- CAIR Banquet and Fundraiser: Celebrating Hate
On October 9, 2004, the Council on
American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) held a banquet and fund raiser at the
Anaheim Convention Center (Anaheim, California).
Omar Ahmad, (CAIR National Chairman) provided an
outline of CAIR “accomplishments” and a summary of current CAIR
projects.
Here are the highlights:
Muslims must vote
as a group to make the most of their numbers. A group
called the “American Muslim Task Force”, (AMTF) was mentioned which is
made up of CAIR and others, will meet soon with Nader and Kerry people
and then go public with whom American Muslims will choose in the
presidential election. President Bush was portrayed as having
betrayed Muslims and cited the Patriot Act and the war in Iraq as
examples.
Our
opinion:
Maybe we of ACAIR missed the press
release; can someone please point out just when, and who, authorized
CAIR to speak in the name of American Muslims?

- Fouad Khatib, CAIR’s
California Chairman, announced to the audience that CAIR
officials from Northern California are now on the boards of the
American Civil Liberties Union, (ACLU) and the National Association for
the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) in Northern California.
Our opinion:
We find it curious that the NAACP would associate
with a group that refuses to condemn Islamic terrorists who are
currently raping, murdering, and enslaving black Africans in the Sudan
based on their skin color and religious belief(s). We can
understand the ACLU, (they believe all religions have rights, except
for Christianity and Judaism) they are patently anti-American.
Would anyone care to let us know just how
associating with CAIR will advance black civil rights in America?

- A video was shown
illustrating some of the work CAIR has done and what they consider some
of their accomplishments.
Some of the video highlights:
Nike Company: Changing
the “flame logo” on a sneaker CAIR didn’t like. The video showed
how CAIR not only got the logo changed; they got Nike to contribute to
an Islamic school.
Our opinion:
Let’s see if we have this correctly: Nike, a
famous maker of sneakers and other sportswear designed a new sneaker
with a “flame” logo on the sole. CAIR complained to NIKE that the
logo looked like the word “Allah”, the Muslim word for their god.
Nike not only changed the logo and apologized; they paid for some
equipment at an Islamic school. This brings up an interesting
question: why would Nike, a for-profit company, deliberately
manufacture a shoe that presumably one billion people would find
offensive? Doesn’t this defy logic? Keep in mind that
neither CAIR, (or anyone else) provided any proof that Nike
deliberately set out to insult Islam. Finally, this event
occurred around 1998…why bring it up now?
Paul Harvey: can
anyone who’s ever listened to radio personality Paul Harvey possibly
think of anything negative to say about this icon of America’s
airwaves? Well, CAIR can…and did. Harvey ran afoul of CAIR
on Dec. 4, 2003…Harvey had described the vicious nature of cock
fighting in Iraq and said: "Add to the (Iraqi) thirst for blood, a
religion which encourages killing, and it is entirely understandable if
Americans came to this bloody party unprepared." Harvey
eventually issued a statement saying that he had heard from "dear
friends" who "reminded all of us that Islam is a religion of peace,
that terrorists do not represent Islam."
Our opinion:
Paul Harvey, one of the greatest radio commentators
in America was threatened with a consumer boycott against his sponsors
if he didn’t disavow his comments regarding Islam. And just how
did CAIR “thank” Harvey? They didn’t…nothing…not one word of
gratitude for one of America’s finest broadcast legends and a true
gentleman. However, CAIR did offer a meeting between Harvey and
American Muslim leaders to “begin a dialogue on issues related to
Islam." CAIR’s idea of “dialogue”? CAIR talks, you
listen.
Congressman Peter King:
Another CAIR Action Alert regarding King’s, (on the Sean Hannity
show) belief that 85% of the mosques in his district were under radical
Muslim control. King was basing his belief on numerous press
accounts regarding the inroads radical Islam has made in Mosques in
America. Let’s also remember that Congressman King, as a member
of the congress, has access to many reports produced by various
agencies that may not be publicly available.
Our opinion:
Congressman King was attacked by CAIR for merely
telling the truth. If CAIR had any proof to contradict King’s
statement, why didn’t they present it? Instead, they take a cheap
shot that totally obscured the fact that CAIR couldn’t prove the
congressman wrong. In addition, to view CAIR”s video, the viewer
would come away believing that King had apologized. To date, King
has refused to retract his statement. (We of ACAIR wish CAIR many
more such “victories”.)
Note: Congressman King is just a little fuzzy
with his numbers. The actual number of mosque’s in the US under
control of radical (I.e., terrorist connected) Islam is closer to 80%.
…Only CAIR
has the effrontery to celebrate hate as a virtue.
