CAIR: Calls for “Pluralism” and
“Diversity”
- CAIR: Calls for “Pluralism” and
“Diversity”
On November 5, 2004, the Council on
American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) issued a press
release, titled: “CAIR Open Letter to Muslims on the November 2
Elections” in which CAIR calls for “pluralism” and “diversity”.
This followed a November 4, 2004, news
release lead with: “CAIR Congratulates President on Election Win”
(Subtitled: “Islamic civil rights groups (sp) calls for 'positive
cooperation' with Muslims”)
CAIR writes:
“We
are dedicated to reaching out to the re-elected President and his
administration, advancing
the twin causes of pluralism and
diversity in American society.”
Once again, CAIR has offered another statement
that is full of promise and hints of a new direction…but means
nothing…when CAIR calls for “pluralism” and “diversity”, what they
really mean is “separate, with radical Islamists superior” and “respect
radical Islam, but don’t expect us to respect you”.
Consider:
* Didn’t CAIR brag that
less than 1% of American Muslims would vote for President Bush?
* Didn’t CAIR
advocate, in all but name, for Senator John Kerry?
* Has not CAIR openly
advocated positions that are in open opposition to the anti-terror
provisions of the Patriot Act?
In addition, CAIR writes it will:
“Build
coalitions with groups that share common ground on issues of importance
to the Muslim community.”
( We may be
wrong, but we don’t believe most
Americans share common ground, moral, political, or otherwise, with
Hamas supporters )
“We
remain devoted to the cause of advocating for the American Muslim
community's issues
in the corridors of power--regardless
of which political party holds a majority.”
Really? Then why has CAIR chosen to
raise money for terror-funding groups such as the Holy Land Foundation,
or advocate positions like "hands off" the Muslim government-sponsored
genocide in Sudan? Why has CAIR chosen to advocate for the
radical fringes, instead of seeking to connect with mainstream American
values? We can see why the Bush administration has written off
CAIR as a serious voice for American Muslims.
“Congratulations
on a job well done. We look forward to improving on our past successes
in
the months and years to come.”
If CAIR considers this election a success,
than we of ACAIR can only wish them
many more such “successes”.
CAIR claims 'As a nation of different races
and faiths, I hope that we can take advantage of this historic
opportunity to build a better America by turning aside the divisiveness
of the past and looking to a future based on positive cooperation in
all that is good and just.”
Who is CAIR kidding? “…a new
opportunity to reach out to the whole nation”? ...did not
President Bush do this immediately following the attacks of Sept. 11,
2001? Did he not ask all Americans to reach out to their Muslim
neighbors? “A new opportunity”? What more can CAIR possibly
ask for? As for “divisiveness of the past”…can there possibly be
another “Muslim civil rights group” in North America more divisive than
CAIR/CAIR-Canada? …can anyone name just one legal Islamist group
more extreme than CAIR that claims to be “mainstream”?
"We
look forward to having the opportunity to work with your administration
in projecting an accurate
image of America in the Muslim world
and envision playing a positive role in building bridges of
understanding."
CAIR is calling for an opportunity to work
with the President of the United States? The president is
involved in a war on Islamist terror; just why would his administration
be interested in involving CAIR in this work? Wouldn’t this be
like the NAACP asking the KKK for help in race relations? The
actions of the president speak volumes about his attitude toward
CAIR: NO THANKS!
We believe the rest of mainstream, decent
America will follow his lead and leave CAIR out when people of good
will and common values meet to solve our nation’s problems.
