As you know, the Council on American-Islamic Relations, (CAIR) filed a lawsuit for defamation against me regarding comments I had made in my position as director of Anti-CAIR (ACAIR).

My position, from the start, has been that I am an American citizen entitled to all the rights and protections of our constitution, including the right of free speech. While I have always recognized that defamation isn’t protected under law; I do know that the truth is an absolute defense and I take great pride in knowing that the entire ACAIR team has always held the truth to be our standard. Anything less would be a disservice to those who rely on our work and would marginalize our efforts to keep you informed.

We’ve always recognized that the equal protections of the constitution extend to all persons, even those with whom we might disagree. However, while we’ve recognized this fundamental right of a free people, some people and organizations have not. Normally, the marketplace of the media is the forum to debate these ideas; occasionally the perceived offense is so great that one party might find a need to resort to legal action to shut down a voice they find disagreeable.

I have had the opportunity to speak with my legal team regarding the lawsuit and they have consented to my sharing the following with you:

1. The case continues.

2. We have no intention of meeting any of the
demands presented to us.

3. We are responding to interrogatories
presented by CAIR.

4. We are aggressively pursuing our own interrogatories.
(I hope to be able to share more information with you
along these lines as it becomes available.)

I continue to have great faith that should this case go to trial that I will be vindicated and my words will be found to have been truthful. My legal team and I look forward to our day in court.

In closing, I know that I have not answered all your questions; rest assured I hope to have more to say as the case progresses.
